Where every setting lives

Updated 4 September 2026 · 3 min read

Settings is its own world, organised into six categories with a search box at the top. Owners and admins reach it from the Settings item in the left sidebar; everyone else opens it from Profile in the avatar menu.

The six categories

CategoryWhat lives there
ProfileYour name · email · password · Teaching availability · LoopAssist insights · Morning Brief email · signed-in devices · App lock (iPhone app only) · your time zone · Appearance (light/dark) · LessonLoop for iPhone (on the web)
OrganisationOrganisation name · address · time zone · Currency · VAT · branding (logo & colours) · academic terms · closure dates · reschedule & cancellation policy · booking & cancellation (self-serve) · make-up credit policy · scheduling defaults · Parent self-edit
Billing & subscriptionYour own LessonLoop plan, payment method and billing history · invoice settings (numbering, terms, footer) · bank transfer details · Reminders and late fees · Online payments (partial pay, payment plans, processors)
CommunicationsEmail identity (your own domain) · messaging settings · message templates · notification preferences (lesson reminders) · Parent notifications (setup mode) · WhatsApp messaging & wallet · term continuation
IntegrationsStripe (card payments) · Xero · Google Calendar · AI assistant connector · API keys
AdvancedRate cards · instruments · grade levels · audit log · GDPR export & delete · Bring your school in · Data import (CSV, legacy) · Timetable import (calendar feed)

A few homes worth memorising

  • Card payments → Integrations → “Stripe (card payments)”. See set up card payments.
  • Currency, VAT and branding → Organisation, alongside your academic terms, closures and policies.
  • Chasing overdue money → Billing & subscription → “Reminders and late fees” — the reminder ladder, the pause switch and the late-fee rule on one screen. See reminders and late fees.
  • Pausing family emails while you set up → Communications → “Parent notifications (setup mode)”.
  • Moving a school across → Advanced → “Bring your school in”. One spreadsheet of students instead → Advanced → “Data import (CSV, legacy)”. One teaching week from a calendar feed → Advanced → “Timetable import (calendar feed)”.
  • Export or delete your data (GDPR) → Advanced.

Three easy mix-ups There is no "Payments" category — card payments sit under Integrations, and how parents pay sits under Billing & subscription. There is no "Music" category — instruments and grade levels live in Advanced. And Notification preferences in Communications is about lesson reminders: chasing overdue invoices lives in Billing.

Two things that aren’t here any more

The Resource library left Settings — it’s a page in its own right at Teaching → Resources.

And a setting you can’t find may simply not have arrived yet: WhatsApp, Xero, Google Calendar and API keys appear as your studio grows into them — see what appears as your studio grows.

Searching, and the one exception

Open Settings and use the search box at the top — “Stripe”, “dark mode”, “VAT” or “delete my data” each land on the exact entry, so you never have to remember the category.

One pane is the exception: Parent self-edit, which lets families update a child’s contact email and phone themselves. It sits at the bottom of the Organisation panel — scroll to it rather than searching for it.
