Your personal account settings — separate from your studio’s settings — control how you sign in, keep your account secure, and what LessonLoop looks like for you. Anything here affects only you, not the rest of your team.
Where it lives
Everything in this guide is under Settings → Profile. Owners and admins open Settings from the left sidebar; teachers and finance members open it from the avatar menu → Profile at the top right.
The Profile category holds:
| Entry | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Your name · Email address · Password | How you sign in |
| Teaching availability | Your weekly teaching hours and time off — see set your teaching availability |
| LoopAssist insights | Mute the kinds of insight you don’t want on Today |
| Morning Brief email | The short daily email of what needs you |
| Two-factor authentication | A six-digit code from an authenticator app at sign-in, with recovery codes |
| Signed-in devices | Review sessions and sign out everywhere |
| App lock | Face ID or Touch ID — in the iPhone app only |
| Your time zone · Appearance | Local times, and light or dark |
| LessonLoop for iPhone | A link to the App Store — on the web, for owners and admins |
Update your name, email or password
- Open Settings (sidebar, or the avatar menu), then choose Profile.
- Edit your name or sign-in email, and save.
- To change your password, choose the password option, enter your current one, then your new one.
Good to know Your sign-in email is how you log in and where security emails go. If you change it, use an address you check — you may be asked to confirm the new one.
Keeping your account secure
The strongest things you can do are to use a long, unique password kept in a password manager, turn on two-factor authentication below, review your signed-in devices, and — on an iPhone — switch on App lock so Face ID or Touch ID is needed to open the app. See the LessonLoop iPhone app.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication adds a second step to your sign-in: a six-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Apple Passwords and similar all work). It takes about a minute.
- Open Settings → Profile and choose Two-factor authentication, then Set up two-factor authentication.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app — or open Can’t scan? Enter this key instead and type the key in.
- Type the six-digit code your app shows. The step completes as soon as the sixth digit is in.
- Save your recovery codes. You get eight. Each one signs you in once if you lose your phone. Keep them somewhere safe — a password manager is ideal — and tick that you’ve saved them.
From then on, sign-in asks for your password and then a code. Codes change every 30 seconds, so if one is refused, use the newest one your app shows.
Lost your phone? On the code step choose Use a recovery code instead and enter one of your saved codes. Using a recovery code signs you in once and removes your authenticator, so set two-factor up again straight after with your new phone. Each code works once; you can regenerate recovery codes at any time from the same card, which replaces the old set.
Turning it off asks for a current code first, then removes your authenticator and cancels your recovery codes. If your school requires two-factor authentication, turning it off locks you out of the school’s data until you set it up again.
For owners You can require two-factor authentication for every member of staff from Settings → Organisation → Security, with a grace period of up to 30 days. Staff who haven't set it up see a banner until the deadline and a full-screen prompt after it; until they finish, LessonLoop refuses their changes at the server, not just on the screen. You'll need your own two-factor set up first, and you can see how many of your staff have finished without seeing anyone's details. Parents in the portal are never required to set it up.
Review your signed-in devices
Settings → Profile lists the devices currently signed in to your account. If you spot one you don’t recognise — or you’ve signed in on a shared or borrowed computer — you can sign out everywhere to end every session at once. You’ll simply log in again next time.
Set your time zone and theme
- Time zone keeps your calendar, lessons and reminders showing the right local times. Set it under Settings → Profile.
- Appearance lets you choose a light or dark theme for the app — pick whichever you prefer.
Choose which emails you receive
Your personal notification preferences live in Settings → Profile too. Use them to decide which updates land in your inbox — such as your Morning Brief and LoopAssist insights — without affecting what your colleagues receive.
